Description:
Noelle’s life is all about survival. Even her best friend doesn’t know how much she gets bullied, or the ways her mom neglects her. Noelle’s kept so much about her life a secret for so long that when her longtime crush Julian Porter starts paying attention to her, she’s terrified. Surely it’s safer to stay hidden than to risk the pain of a broken heart. But when the antagonism of her classmates takes a dramatic turn, Noelle realizes it’s time to stand up for herself–and for the love that keeps her holding on

This Blonde’s Review:
In a typical book about bullying we’re about to see immediately why others bully them. Even though we often disagree and want life to turn around, we know why it’s happening. With Noelle that isn’t the case.

Noelle is a nice girl who is supportive of the things her best friend had gone through. She’s a pretty girl and thinks she has a boyfriend with a bad boy. She seems like she’s a typical teenage girl. What makes her the target of so much bullying?

We slowly learn what started it all as we watch get life play out. When a great guy starts to seem interested in her, Noelle doesn’t know what to think. It’s not possible. He’s too good for her.

When Noelle makes an honest mistake and life starts to get worse for her she has a choice to make. When tragedy strikes close enough for Noelle to feel it, it’s enough to wake her up to make some changes. Will it be enough to change the way others treat her?

I enjoyed reading Noelle’s story and seeing how simple mistakes and misunderstandings can shape your life. We see how it can happen to anyone, and that not everyone has the kind of life you think.

Reading Noelle’s memories of life at home and the way her mother neglected her was heartbreaking. The way the author wrote it was great, I love that she wasn’t looking for the big bang. They are little things that make you think about what it should be like. They make you consider what someone else’s life might be like.

Susane Colasanti did a great job on this one. It’s realistic and honest with characters we can care about.

If you enjoy looking into the life of a teenage girl who could be anyone you know you’ll enjoy this one. It’ll leave you thinking.
