McKettricks of Texas: Garrett
By Linda Lael Miller
Available Now

Description:
Fast track up the political ladder, fast cars, fast women-that’s Garrett McKettrick. Make that was. A scandal has brought him home to Blue River, Texas, a place where a man can slow down, take stock, and plan his next move. Which doesn’t include staying at the family ranch with his brothers. A city boy, Garrett doesn’t think he has the land in his blood. But Blue River has other attractions, like his former high school nemesis, Julie Remington. Now a striking woman, Julie comes complete with a four-year-old cowboy, a three-legged beagle, and deep ties to the community. Good thing they have nothing in common . . . except their undeniable attraction and a future brighter than the Texas sun.

This Blonde’s Review:
This is the 2nd book in this new series by Linda Lael Miller. I had already read the first one and looked forward to hearing Garrett’s story. In Tate’s story (book 1) we see Garrett’s faith in the Senator he works for, while everyone else sees how he truly is. Garrett’s story opens up with him disallusioned. The senator had just acted in such a way as to make it impossible for Garrett to remain blinded to his faults any longer. Garrett runs home to deal with his hurt pride and to figure out what he’s doing next. When he gets home he discovers Julie. She is a single mother with a very smart young son. We meet and come to care for Julie and Calvin in Tate’s story. Garrett and Julie are very sexually attracted to each other, now they just have to figure out if there is something more.

I really enjoyed this story and am excited to read their brother Austin’s story next. If you enjoy modern day western romances this one will not disappoint. If you decide to read this without picking up Tate’s story you will still enjoy this book. I do recommend getting Tate’s story first since you get more about background info on Julie & Calvin that way since they are an important part of the first story.
